For task 1 of the session we were asked to:
- Choose you least favourite from all.
- Choose you most favourite from all.

MY CHOICES.
                                1                                                                     2

WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN THESE?

1
- The way in. Which your are taken back to your child hood in a second.
- The simplicity give a strength to the work, the negative space and small image help to emphasis this.
- It is very relatable in the child hood activity sense.
- The absence of type also enhances the image.

2
- The layout of type is poor. the heading is lined down the middle but not placed in the middle, the type at the bottom is lined to one side (inconsistent).
- It is bland. This is made worse by the fact that it is something to promote an individual.
- Old fashioned style not really up to date.

- AN AETHETIC RESPONCE IS IMEDIATE.

- ANALYSING LOOKS INTO THE REASON OF THIS IMMEDIATE RESPONSE.

- AN AESTHETIC RESPONSE CAN BE THE SAME AS OTHERS HOWEVER THEIR REASONS FOR REACTING IN THIS WAY CAN DIFFER.

- ARE EXPERIENCES AS WELL AS WHO WE ARE AS A PERSON, DEFINE WHAT WE THINK IS GOOD OR BAD.

STUDIO TASK 2.
We were then asked ,in pairs to come up with ten rules that define what you think is successful Graphic design.

1. QUALITY OF IMAGE.
2. QUALITY OF MESSAGE.
3. CONSIDERATION OF CONTEXT.
4. CONSISTANCE.
5. LIMITED COLOUR SCHEME.
6.
......

........

These rules were hard for us to gather as me and my partner had quite different taistes. Because of this we had to take each others tastes into consideration.
Out of these 10 rules, we were then asked to pick three (as an individual) that you think you would be more inclined to follow as a designer. Once you had picked these, go into more detail on the specifics of this rule. I chose the following:

QUALITY OF MESSAGE - Understandable, Generate a good immediate response, Have good a lasting response.

CONSISTENCY - Through out the layout, colour scheme, theme and typography.

QUALITY OF IMAGE - The way in which it is executed and the though process behind it.

After coming up with and defining these rules, we then went back to the groups images on the table and we had to choose 2 images (one we thought was bad and one we thought was good) and apply these rules to them.

THE GEOMETRY OF PASTA.

QUALITY OF MESSAGE.
I feel that the message given in this piece of graphic Design is to celebrate the simplicity and humbleness of pasta and the many forms it comes in. I think the designer has executed the quality of message well as the simple monochrome images emphasise the the purity of this everyday food. The layout is well thought out, clear and crisp, accompanied well with a clean and simple typeface.

CONSISTENCY.
This design is ver consistent. Even though many different shapes of pasta have been presented, they have all been executed i the same style wether they are simple or more detail. The layout and spacing of each image, even though not symmetrical, is also very consistent. they have been placed in a very directed way to enhance the clean and clear theme that is running through out.

QUALITY OF IMAGE.
Even though the images in the design are pretty simple they have each individually been thought about and executed in a very precise and clinical way. The crispness of each image has also been enhanced by the methodical way they have been arranged and placed on to the page.

UNIDENTIFIED IMAGE.
QUALITY OF MESSAGE.
There is no clear message to this image and all you can do is have a guess at what this image could imply.

CONSISTENCY.
This piece is pretty random and the only consistancey I could get form it is the fact that the cage image and the mouth image are both photographic forms. Other than this stretch is no consistence in layout or colour making the image garish and not vey well executed. The purple shadow is also very random and goes agains the photography approach the designer has tried to make.

QUALITY OF IMAGE.
Due to the severe pixilation of this image makes it look very amateurish. The poorly cropped  picture of the mouth is very off-putting (yellow teeth!) and the random purple a attempt at a shadow just takes the image down to a whole new low.
