COMMUNICATION IS A VIRUS.
RESEARCH.

I got inspire by these type of pill boxes that allow you to organise your daily medicine to ensure you get what you need in a day. i really like the idea of having this type of organisational tool for Graphic design students in the form of a blog/website.
I feel that this could be a possible ethos we could use to adorn our concept with.

We were thinking about using different types of pill to reprint the supplement and the catagorie of Graphic design. This particular design is how I visualised the symbols we could create for our concept. I also think it is important that we used recognisable shapes to ensure the relate relateability to our concept.

Design inspiration is one of my favourite design websites. The layout out of this website is very simplistic with multiple windows displaying all kinds of different works that are some of the most contemporary of the time. You can use the search engine to find specific pieces of work or artists or there are multiple options that allow you to search by the method of production or Type of Graphic design.
The website is updated numerous times in one day and allows you to find out who created the piece of work. It can also lead you to many other blogs and website that you will have never heard of, however are very useful to know about.

Grain Edit is another very good online resource that not only has images and descriptions on individual pieces of Graphic Design, It also has Interviews with many up and coming designers that can give you a very good insight on what it is like to be in the industry.
This type of personal information is very useful to students studying with in the categories of Graphic Design as they can gain a bit of insider knowledge of were they want to be as well as maybe getting a few tips on making your way into the industry.

Designworklife is a blog style website that simply displays great work that is very up to dat. This site is constantly being up dated and supplies you with multiple images of work which can be very useful to a student. The only issue with this website is the lack of information that is given and how it leads you through quite a lot of different blogs until you can find the information you are looking for. However the basic layout along with limited yet rich colours also works well.
Lovely package this is another one of my favourite websites. it is also set up like a blog and follows a simple structure with an almost non-existent colour scheme. One thing that sets this web-page apart from many is the amount of student work that is displayed. It allows designers to submit their own work which is then checked over by the folks at lovely package to see if the product and images are rendered to a high quality. This is a great tool for students who are in there final years of education and are looking to gain recognition form other agencies and companies.
This is a feature that could fit very well with in our blog and website.

PILL SHAPE REFERENCES
I got all of these images by typing pill or supplement pill in to the Google image search engine. I t helps having the pill shape based on a photograph so the proportions are all realistic. It will also help to get the 3D effect I am after.

COLOUR REFERENCE
When deciding on a colour scheme for our concept it is important to keep in mid appropriate colours that will relate to a medical ethos to give our product more depth. When playing around with the pill icons and possible layouts I can use these colour references to ensure the theme is consistent through out.

I used a few of the pill packaging we had in the house. Some are actual medication that needs a perscription and some our supplements that you can buy over the counter at a suppler market. The Tesco's cold and flu tablets has a lot more decoration on it because they are a more commercial product as they are more widely available to the public. This is the same for the Boots paracetamol. Even though this packaging is not as decorated, The typeface used seems a lot friendlier due to the rounded edges.

The rest of the packets are prescribed drugs. Even though one has a slight decoration on it their layouts rely on strong typography and blocks of colour. this is because they have no need to advertise themselves, therefor the straight forward nature is relevant to simply letting the doctor and patient no the drugs name, the manufacturer and the guidelines and dosage.
I like this straight forward approach that give these drugs an air of seriousness. This is an aesthetic that would be fun to experiment with while coming up with designs for promotional material.

As well as the aesthetics of these medical packets, it was also interesting to see the language used when reading the various bits of type. Again the straight forward and abrupt way in which this text reads is very recognisable to that of a doctor.
