Believed that scientific and art education institutions were completely different. and evolved around 2 completely different cultures.

POSITIVISM - Research should always lead to something that is positive. Not so much as a 'good thing' just that the is a definite result to which the research results in.

Research should not be about arguments and differences of opinion they should be fact that are able to speak for them selves.

APROACHES TO RESEARCH

EMPERISCISM
scientific research - an experiment is set up and the results of it are recorded (most common).

QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH
Research that leads to data and facts. Over time a pattern can be realised from the large amount of data that has been accumulated.

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH
Constant feedback from peers and is an ongoing form of research. present this and organise this as a base for assessment.

Academically figuring the process of research. Some one has something they wish to investigate, place this into a real world context. After this has taken place, reflect how this went ad how the original ideas were changed or challenged.

METHODOLOGY
Method - a way of proceeding about something in a systematic or logical manner
Methodology - The science of method, employed in a particular activity.

EPISTEMOLOGY
Ways of thinking and choosing one reason over another so you receive the results you are aiming for.

HERMENEUTICS

Anything in the world can be interpreted on three different levels
- Behind the text (background)
- In/Through the text (How was it made)
- Infront of the text (what has happened as a result of this)
