COP 3 / Mini crit

COP 3 / OUGD601
PACKAGING PROGRESS.
MINI CRIT.

After the failure of the graphic sticker idea, I felt I was really struggling with coming up with an aesthetic that still met the concept I was looking to present. I decided to take what I had into the studio and get some opinions from my peers to see if that would help me realise a solution that would be fitting.

The said that they liked this wrap design as they thought that the texture looked like water droplets from a distance but when you realised what the images actually was, it was very off putting.

I also told them about being able to print on tissue paper, and we discussed the idea of maybe printing the graphic images of to this kind of paper. That way the tissue paper can be wrapped around the bottle and look nice from a distance. However when you realise what it is, it acts as a deterrent.

I couldn't decide whether it would be better and more impactful if :

- I made the outside look nasty, to stop people buying it in the first place.

OR

- Make the outside look attractive and appealing and the underneath nasty so that  once the product is bought and taken home to consume, the realisation is made at the point of consumption.

I talked about this with my peers and the agreed that the second option would be best. This way, the outside of the product would be inviting and enticing symbolising the (even though very few) positive and luxurious aspects that are related to alcohol. However the vast negatives that come with this product are carried underneath and are revealed at the vital moment.
